Is it hypocritical to put down a community organizer then brag about being active in the PTA ?

As a community organizer Obama supported his children and education in his community by obtaining one of the largest private grants for So Chicago schools ever given. That's a lot more than baking cookies for the PTA bake sale.

  1. Absolutely.

And how does the PTA prepare a leader for the VP position?

  2. Of course it is. I think the DNC will give the public an education about community organizing and we will see an upswing in people becoming community organizers. Could be a good thing.

  3. I don't think it is hypocritical.  I think it is underhanded.  Community organizers often look at what government is not doing and fight for the people & help the people make change.  Political organizing set the place for the civil rights movement, the women's rights movement to name a few.  Community organizers are the ones who met in churches, schools, and homes fighting for a change in the way things were done.  They fought for a change in the way government could respond to the mistreatment of its citizens.  Most of government, outside lobbyists, is changed because of community organizers that work hard for little to no pay and try to effect a change that will be encouraging and uplifting to those who are having a hard time.

It is noble to work in the PTA and plan functions and stand up to the school districts if necessary to make sure that a child's education is the best he or she can attain, but to discredit community organizers is something that is just spiteful.

  4. No.  it is insane..............

  5. Obama was a community organizer before he went to law school.  He chose that as a career prior to his choice to return to school.

Palin already had her education and her family and wanted to become active to help her children to receive a better education.

Community Organizer (self serving hype about his own career) or PTA member (active loving parent wanting to make a difference in the education of the children in her community).

    That's not hypocritical to me.

  6. If that was all she did, you would have a point.

    It isn't and you don't.

Does Obama not support his children and their education?  Is he not involved?  Those poor Obama children if that is so.

Zap: funny that you would talk about packaging c**p.

  7. Just typical hatred and double standards of religious conservative zealots.

  8. PTA?  My god, she sounded more like a home coming queen with a gun.

  9. no.

She was active in the PTA besides being Mayor of the town and Governor of the State. Obama was only a Community Organizer. I think it's a good thing. It shows she cares about her children's education. She is involved. Also it's something that mother's can relate to. Working and trying to help the school and trying to be a good mother all at the same time. It's a good thing. A very good thing to be proud to be a member of the PTA.

  10. Typical hypocracy from the Republican Party...what they don't seem to realize is that you can package c**p as ornately as you want, but in the end, its still c**p!

  11. Is there a right answer to that question?

This is a hockey mom, self-described as a pitbull with lipstick....which speaks to defending the nuclear family against one and all, not cooperation.

  12. Absolutely.  The emptiness of her snide remarks was sad and the contradictions apparent.  More disturbing however was the reference to "change."  What change is either she or McCain proposing? What was she talking about?

  13. No more hypocritical than it is to claim you stand for 'change' and then choose someone who represents 40 years of political establishment in Washington DC ; )

  14. she wasn't putting down community organizers. She was just saying that her job now is a lot more than that of a community organizer.

The democratic party was the ones saying that a simple community organizer is a job not worthy of the vp nomination.

  15. Most dumb Americans (typically Republican) don't realize what a community organizer reall does, the inner cities of America are not a pleasant place to work, probably one of the toughest public service jobs.

  16. Yes Yes and YES....I was just thinking that a few minutes ago...she sounded like a high school cheerleader last night...what a moron.

  17. no

  18. She really drew in some of the middle class Americans that they were targeting with that statement. She talked about how as a mayor she had "actual responsibilities," but what exactly were they? She left her city in huge debt and worked hard to hire a lobbyist to get the earmarked funds that she claims to be against in her "Reform" argument.

It was a speech to her base...the greedy, non-compassionate, holier-than-though conservatives telling them what they want to hear. It did nothing to draw in new voters. The swing states will still go to Sen. Obama because hard working Americans know that he will fight for them.

I found her speech not only hypocritical but also demeaning and sarcastic. Hardly genuine and definitely not compassionate.

  19. You do know about how Obama's people were putting her down as "just" being the mayor of a small town, right? She was only explaining what her job was, that's all. Why are you so touchy? A bit jittery, perhaps? Didn't like how the woman came back at them? You should be worried.

    Oh, you libbies ARE worried.

  20. Actually, the Obama-ites first put her down by ignoring the fact that she was a governor, and attempting to make it sound like she went directly from a PTA bake sale to VP candidate. She was just pointing out the irony- she was actually the GOVERNOR, which involves more experience in an executive position than community organizer. So he has the a** kissing down part, but can he run something? She addressed all of the criticisms all the dem's made about her, and they couldn't handle it. Now they are whining like a bunch of three year olds.

  21. vice versa what?

  22. Absolutely not.

Obama is nothing more than a community organizer who's running for president whereas Palin began her political career in the PTA, became a mayor, and then a governer.

    She has actual accomplishments.

Is this too hard for you to understand?

  23. of course.

just as its ridiculous to claim that any governor has foreign policy experience.

just as its ridiculous to claim that palin is extremely experienced while denigrating obama's experience...

  24. You have to remember: that time in the PTA represents a considerable amount of her practical experience...  Other than that, she really hasn't done a whole lot.

Well: she did talk to her daughter about abstinence as a method of birth control...  Hope she does better with the energy issue.

  25. Perhaps, had that happened, but it didn't. Obama was dismissive of Palin's mayoral experience, and it was that she was comparing to being a community organizer. Here's what she said:

"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
