If the said person let the parent/guardian know that they were leaving and would be returning within a week, would it be possible for them to be counted as a runaway? This would be in the state of Illinois and the parent/guardian would not know the exact whereabouts of the 17 year old.

  1. if you were to tell your parents that you were leaving, why not tell them where you are going? if you don't know, I would tell them that ... or tell them "wyoming" just so they don't send the police after you/

  2. If your parents want you back, yes it would be illegal.

Under those circumstances tho, with you so near the age of majority, they may let you go... But not return. Why would they wish to continue being responsible for someone who cared so little for their feelings?

  3. Yes, if they call the police. They will consider it elopement and will chase you down. Then possible lock you up after wards in a mental hospital.

  4. If the parent/guardian wants you back then yes...they can send the police after you.

Once you are 18 go where you want.

  5. If they did not know where they were, they could not have control, therefore they are a runaway/ (I gentle kicked my son out at 17)

Your parents may get lucky and you'll stay away, they'll get over you pretty quick (Life ain't the movies)
