  1. i believe you do need to get permission first to marry since she is not saudi. but i dont think there is much of a punishment if you dont. maybe she will not be granted permission to ever visit saudi. that is about it.

  2. Yes, it is not allowed by law. Military men don't need just the special permission, it can be more complicated.

This rule is not related to religion, so the fact that the woman is muslim does not make a huge difference in this case. It is related to the nationality.

But again there are exeptions and he could get it if he tries hard. There are always people willing to help and the situation in KSA can be in flux in a number of occasions.

If there is a will there is a way:)

In the very worst case, he has to change jobs and get the standard permission that is not hard anymore to obtain. Then if she gets the nationality, he could go back to his old job....but that is a roundabout method.

  3. no its not.

  4. I dunno, I have a friend who married a Saudi who was in the military. When he went back, he was held and barred from leaving the country for 6 years. Of course, he also went AWOL, and he forged papers to get his wife into the country ( but I dont think he got caught with the latter), so that definately played a role, but she did mention that part of the case against him was that he had married a foreigner while in the army.

  5. are you over 30? things get easier when you are of legal age (which they call 30 here in Saudi when you marry foreigners).. otherwise the paperwork and red govt tape will be horrible to get through..

But as long as you both are muslim, shouldnt be a problem... but there will be lengthy paperwork regardless (also if you or someone in your family knows someone, *wink wink*, the procedure will go through quicker)

  6. I think the best way to get a better answer would be to ask around to people you know.  All I know is that the rules for men in the military are different than those for civilians.

I'm American married to a Saudi, but my husband isn't in the military and doesn't have military connections, so we just went the 'normal' route with the paperwork.
