When i'm not in the car and there are no keys in the ignition?

I ask this because when i drive him around he pops up into the drivers seat so he can use the radio better.

Is that illegal? He has no license, 14 years old.

  1. Reminds me when my mom left my 20 month old brother (buckled into his car seat in the back of the car) in the car, while she went back inside to help her niece find a shoe.  The car was old, so she had left it in gear, fearing it would not restart...  My brother managed to undo his buckle, and get the car into drive.  It rolled into a tree, but nobody was hurt.  Not to mention when at 15 he took the car out without permission.  The only way we found out was because he'd had to change the tire.  He got quite a reaming that time.  He's just lucky we live in a very quiet area, cut off from where the police normally drive. (I swear I can count on my fingers the number of times I've seen a police car near our neighbourhood over the last 10 years, and of those, most are in response to accidents).

  2. Your safe, he is old enough to not overheat.  I see no problem except most car radios will not work unless the car ignition is turned on.

  3. No, so long as the car is parked and turned off, he should be fine. That's assuming you're around to prove that you are in fact the driver.

  4. No this is not illegal, he is just sitting in a car. If he were driving the car, then it is illegal, as soon as the car is in motion and he is in the driver seat, that is a problem.
