Both of our names are on the lease and he has set-up a videocamera in the living room without my consent. Is this illegal? He also abuses drugs constantly. What should I do? I live in NC if that matters.

  1. well with him having the camera it sorta invades your privacy. Maybe you should take it to court b/c both of your names are on the lease you know.

  2. Call the cops on him about the drugs. Pawn the video camera, and the rest of his stuff if he or his family does not come back for it by the time you get a new roommate.

  3. move out. now

  4. It is illegal if you dont approve!

  5. He might have another specific reason for installing the video camera, such as for security reason. Fortunately, you also have the right to cover the camera's lens when you don't feel comfortable.

My suggestion, since you don't seem like comfortable enough with him around, report the drug's abuse to the police. At the police station, tell them about the video camera as well.

  6. Get a copy of the tape of him doing drugs, turn it over to the cops, he goes to jail, you take the video camera down.  Simple.
