Is it illegal in Michigan to take small children into a bar?

Or it is up to the owner? I'm talking about a real bar, not a restaurant/bar. Thanks!

I am not sure as I live in California.  I know here you are not supposed to take children into bars.  Now if there are shows playing then it is up to the owner and they have to be sure to check ID or give wrist bands before serving alcohol.

I am not sure why someone would want to take small children into a bar in the first place though. Not a place were children should be, especially small ones, that is a bad influence.  There are some pretty horrible drunks in bars.  I would never take my son who will be 3 in Nov into a bar.
