Is it illegal in Washington state to play poker on the Internet?

How can a state legally censor the internet? If the money changes hands in a foreign country, and the player travels to the foreign country to play, travelling via the internet, why would it even be an issue for Washington state? No money is changing hands in Washington state, and the game is in a foreign country. So how would Washington state even have any jurisdiction over it?

They have jurisdiction because you're doing it in that state, and if you're a resident, then any money you send, either through a 3rd party site or check, IS being sent from Washington.

Yes it is. Washington state passed a law making internet gambling illegal.

It prohibits operating or participating in internet gambling.

Now whether they can enforce it is another matter but it is illegal.
