I live in NJ and work at the local supermarket in town. they have told us we are not allowed to buy anything at the store even if were punched out or we go into the store to buy groceries on our day off. and if we attempt to purchase something our employment is "terminated" this from what i hear is illegal. since they put this "rule" in to affect i have to travel 2 miles in to the next town to go to the shoprite when i live a block and a half away from the store (so close that when i was allowed to buy my groceries i would walk there) this really angers me and any help or information is greatly apprecheated.

  1. I'm not sure.

    But it seems ludicrous

  2. While that policy doesn't make sense and is dumb, most businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone. It's one of the rights the private business owners posses. As long as it's not based on racial/sexual/political/etc. reasons, it's legal. Dumb though, that they wouldn't want their own employees supporting the store where they work.
