yes it is an illegal serve. plus, your are more likely to ricoshe the ball if you use your fist therefor, you have a better chance at using an open palm to get the ball over.

NO it is not illegal. I do it all the time when I am playing volleyball, and the ref. sees it, and does nothing. Just as long as you don't like carry the ball or throw it or anything, you're fine.

Well, some coaches don't allow their players to use a fist. When I was in 7th grade we could use a fist since we were starting out, but in 8th grade we weren't allowed to by the coach, it mostly depends on your coach. Now for me in 9th grade we are not allowed, I know it would make it easier, but life isn't just that easy. :)

So, it isn't illegal, just it makes it less of a chance to have a good serve. You have a lot better control with an open hand, it takes dedication and hard work, but it comes after lots of practice.

It is legal, a player on my team did it this year, but it greatly reduces control or spin on the serve. I would practice open hand, you will get it eventually

sure is. i used to use a fist for serving overhand but now i have opened my hand & it's great

! and plus you have no controll over the ball with a fist in stead of a strong flat palm .

yes. it is actually more out of control too if you do it like that. I was just at tryouts today and people who did that missed every time.

u can but u shouldnt do it because the way the volleyball hits off ur fist makes the volleyball go everywhere.
