  1. If your brother has signed the "voluntary" opt out clause at each employer regarding limitations on working hours, or is in reserved occupations there is nothing illegal in working, or being made to work, up to 96 hours a week on condition that there is an 8 hour break between shifts over six days and at least one 24 hour rest period in any given 7 days.

  2. no, I used to do this quite a lot when I worked in security

  3. it all depends on his work contract that he signed, the last place i worked i was contracted to work 40hrs per week and thats it no more and no less,i could work more if i wanted to (Overtime) but i didnt have to i had the choice.  he needs to look at his contract

  4. No.

As long as the employee has the option of declining excess hours offered by an employer, is paid accordingly, and is not in a profession that mandates maximum hours worked (such as an air traffic controller), and employee is free to work as long as they desire.

  5. Companys cant make you work that amount, but if you want to thats your own choice, and I take my hat off to him sounds like hes a good guy.

  6. Illegal or not, at that rate he won't be a father for long - or anything at all!

  7. It's not illegal if you are of age but wow is it stupid, great recipe for an early grave!

  8. For some of us in the US, it's normal.

  9. Unhealthy but not illegal.

  10. It is not illegal but there is such a thing called the working time directive. If he visits www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk he should get more info on this. There is another website which i can't remember the address of at the moment so if it's not listed on jobcentre plus website i suggest he search for jobs that entail more than 40hrs a week and the website should be listed in the job description on all jobcentre plus vacancies.

  11. Not if you're at least 18. You can work 84 hours/week at the same job if the company allows it.

    .

  12. No it's not illegal unless you are being made to work all these hours by your boss, as you say not the same job then obvioulsy not.

  13. Why on earth would it be?  If he needs to and can, then more power to him.

  14. no my hubby works those kind of hours every week

  15. depends what country you live in as well

  16. No! Easy.

  17. 2 different jobs? Of course not

  18. Not at all

  19. The EU Working Time Directive Stipulates that the maximum working week is 48hrs,  There are some exceptions where 55hrs are permitted.  In the case of the UK, they opted out of the Social Charter, which includes this legislation, and the UK may still not be governed by it, though the rest of Europe is.  There are very heavy penalties for employers or employees breaching this legislation.  Despite the aim of protecting workers rights it has been very counter-productive where people need to work extra to achieve particular goals, ranging from saving for a house deposit, for a holiday to insuring the car.

  20. No - but you must be shattered. Have a break love!
