Is it illegal to burn the flag?

Burn, deficate on, hang upside down, or otherwise mishandle?

Additionally is it against UCMJ to do that?

You know, I don't know if it's illegal or not, but I just think that if people are so fed up with this country and so anti-American, then they should pack up and just LEAVE.

Burning the flag is the proper recommended procedure to dispose of an unwanted flag under the flag code.

I don't know about the UCMJ (it's got some weird rules), but no, it's not illegal to burn the American flag; it's protected under the First Amendment.

It's not illegal.  It's protected under freedom of speech.  However, if someone were to burn a flag in public and cause a riot, then they would be abusing their right to peaceful assembly and then could probably get arrested for inciting riot.

Nope.  It's not illegal, but it's bound to get you put on some FBI database, as well as p**s off just about every veteran out there...

It's highly inadvisable.

I don't know about UCMJ... it's a possibility.

If you have a flag that is tattered and torn, the proper way to dispose of it is to burn it. So to answer your question, it is not illegal to burn a flag.

Hanging a flag upside down outside of a building is a sign that there is some sort of "trouble" inside, such as a robbery or hostages being held. (similar to an SOS).
