Is it legal for some one to buy a cow so they can butcher it themselves for a BBQ. Im not cheap I just think it would be a good form of entertainment. I want to trow a party on the beach and have a cow for the honored guest. Can I do this or will the FDA or Peta get involved

  1. no it isn't illegal at all. But it might be easier to take it to someone that knows what they're doing and know's how to make the cuts unless you already know how.. it's fine.

  2. OMG

    LIKE WOW

    I DONT KNOW.

    BUT WHY

    BUTCHER A COW??????????????

    REMIND ME NEVER TO PI$$

YOU OFF I DON'T WANT TO END UP

IN A BODY BAG IN A DARK ALLEY SOME WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. The FDA has mandatory sanatary conditions for butchering meat for public consumption that you must conform with. Buying beef on the hoof is much easier if purchased dressed instead of whole, and honestly if your asking this you dont have the right equipment to safely butcher a 2000lb animal. You should just order the meat whole instead of cut up into steaks and what not.

  4. Yeah, um well I don't think so. But maybe you should check before doing it.

    There is that better......

  5. I think it depends on where you live. However, I am sure it's illegal on public beaches. That is just gross, too.  Why would you want to have a party around the butchering of a cow? That's just awful.

Just buy some steaks and have a picnic.

  6. You can butcher your own cow for your own personal consumption without the FDA getting involved. You cannot, however, sell the meat to others without FDA approval...

As for PETA.. I wouldnt advertise that you were slaughtering a live animal. They WOULD be upset...

  7. Wow the cow would just love that.

  8. I'd get involved! Pinging your IP as we speak.

  9. If you butcher your own cow for food your own consumption it is not illegal.  But you will need to contact local authorities if you intend to do this on public property.

If you just want to cook the meat on public property you will have to take the risk that you will make people sick and that they will sue you for all you are worth (and more).

And if you think there is no skill involved in killing and preparing meat, you will have a rude awakening.  And a big mess on your hands.
