Is it illegal to buy an airsoft gun from America and have it shipped to the UK?

Is it illegal to buy an airsoft gun from an American website and have it shipped to the UK? Airsoft guns in the UK are usually transparent so would it be illegal to bring one in that is not transparent?

Yes.  It would be illegal to have that shipped to you.

The good 'ld US of A (sorry, I could not help myself) does not require toys to be clearly identified - the UK does.  If the tip is not molded bright orange or the colour pattern resembles a firearm, then it cannot be sold.  

On the other hand, a can of black spray paint can be picked up from any DIY place for only a few quid.
