It was rented from a 'DVD vending machine'. My friend will make me a copy, I am not paying her to make me one.

  1. if want to copy dvd movie. you can use "e.m. easy dvd copy"

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22...

  2. yes it is illegal to copy movies

and if your friend tries to sell u a copy it is also illegal to sell the burnt product even if he/she owns the movie it is illegal to give away copied material as well unless it's family or a back up for your self as long as you own the software or movie you can copy it for your self and family

but to me that's all bullshit even though it is true

i mean if you paid for the software you actually do own the rights and licensing to copy it but nobody really cares about it but the software distributors

  3. Technically Yes, but who is gonna know besides you?

  4. Yes.  The material is the property of the authors and publisher of the DVD.  Your friend rented it she does not own it.  Making a copy would be stealing.  It doesn't matter if she keeps it or gives it away.

  5. It is legal if copying DVD is used for your personal entertainment  , not related to the profit. You can have a try Pavtube DVD Copy. Get it here: http://www.pavtube.com/dvd_copy/

  6. its illegal to copy any dvd, thats bad, just buy the movie instead stop being cheap.

  7. Yes...but it doesn't really matter, It is VERY unlikely that u would get in trouble

  8. cause most DVD movie are encrypted( CSS Copy right protected), you will need to have a 3rd party DVD copy software to help you, take a look at http://www.dvd-to-ipod-converter.com/dvd... this unbiased and detailed comparison chart of top 5 DVD copy softwares, 1 Click DVD copy is the best and works great for me.

  9. it is till the same thing. it is illedal

  10. Yes, that not only violates the letter of the law, but also its spirit.

The only time I would side with the friend would be if they bought the DVD, made a single copy, and treated that copy as the original, while putting the original in safekeeping.  In that sense, I could ethically view it like a computer backup.  But I think even that would be against the letter of the law in the USA.
