  1. Do you mean a cd that you own and want to import it to the library??

If so, that is not illegal.

  2. Not at all! AS long as you keep the music on your hard drive or ipod and don't sell or torrent your music. Do not use iTunes to copy your CD completely!

  3. Doesn't sound illegal to me...

  4. If you get it from the library (meaning, you don't buy the CD, you just borrow it) and then copy it to iTunes, it's technically illegal, but you can't get caught, like no one would be able to tell that it wasn't from, say, your own CD.

  5. It IS illegal - if you didn't BUY the music, it is considered PIRATING.

But seriously, no one cares and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to find out- not unless the government raids your computer or someone calls the FBI to tell them, which, no one would do.

Seriously I do this all the time from the CDs at my library. SOME CDs have a block on them that won't let you copy them, but most don't.

I'd do it, if I were you.

They say pirating music is STEALING- but STEALING is taking the original source, you're just COPYING it!

So your answer is yeah, it's illegal, but you most likely won't get caught.

IF YOU WERE CAUGHT, which you won't be, you'd be fined a sh1tload of money and you could POSSIBLY get arrested (if you're over 18).
