Is it illegal to do this ?

my friends tell me that if u download torrent movies or any kind of file from the internet its not illegal.Is this true? And also is Limewire illegal? i've seen it on new papers a scholastic new so i don't think its illegal but i just wanted to make sure.

Yes, it is illegal and it is called p****y. Limewire technically is illegal. If you pay the annual fee for it, it is not illegal; that is how they are allowed to offer it. But if you don't pay for it and have a large amount on downloaded songs, videos, etc., you could potentially get caught for it.

the programs are legal, as I'm sure when u install them it says u promise not to use them for copy wright infringement etc, but most people dont care and do illegal things on them anyways, like download films and music

limewire is a copyright law infringement and is yes illegal. doesnt mean that i dont use it ;)

The PROGRAM is legal. The issue is has the owner of whatever you are downloading authorized the download. If in doubt, assume they have NOT.
