Unless there is a local municipal code that prohibits it, you're fine.

However, if you're "messed up" and the police have to come, you are technically "in public" and it could lead to a legit "Drunk in Public" arrest.

I doubt it as long as you are not driving a vehichle (including lawnmower) you should be okay.  However, it might depend on the city you live in.

You can be cited for drinking in public which is a misdemeanor. This law varies by city in the state of Cali. However, if your front yard is enclosed by say a high fence or shrubbery where you have an expectation of privacy, then you can go ahead and toast it up! Check with your city regulations. Cheers!!!

Nope, but I would head into the house if the cops show up.

They can arrest you for public intoxication, if they lure you out of the house. That's 4 hours in jail and a bond.
