Ok, I am English but I am moving to the USA in about 6 weeks. I'm currently in year 12 and will turn 18 in September, but I want to start the IB because I need to have a qualification that will allow me to easily transition between countries should the need arise. I applied to a school which accepted my application, however during my phone interview last week they raised a concern that it might not be legal for me to enter their school as an 11th grader... does anybody know why this might be a problem? Also, why was I not informed sooner? My date of birth was all over my application forms... does the US education system not take age into account? And is it possible to fulfil graduation requirements in 1 year, and then get into a good UK university with the diploma? Anyone who can give me any info at all, please do!!! Thanks :)

  1. normally, age isn't really a problem. I'm a senior (12th grader/year) and my graduating class this year ranges in age from 17-19. It might be different for a private school because normally they can set their own rules.

its definitely possible to fulfill all graduation requirements in 1 year based on the fact that you have taken other classes at your previous school. Those course credits should transfer over to your new school. The number of credits you already have usually also determines what grade your put in.

you should be able to get into a good UK university. you can check at the universities and see what their requirements are so you can make the right decision.

    Hope this helps
