  1. No.  An engagement is not a state covered by legislation.  Anyone can say they are engaged.

Society would probably frown upon such a young engagement, but it is certainly NOT illegal.

  2. You must look at your state statutes.

  3. In the UK it is not illegal,

  4. no i don't think soo! :o)

  5. yes.no its not illegal.

  6. no of course its not illegal.

  7. yeh, if you are under 16 as soon as an engagement ring is put on your finger it sends a signal to the police and they come and arrest you

  8. getting engaged isnt illegal in any way (r****d person who answered before me) because there's nothing legal about it. Now getting married at 16 would be illegal in i think all states without a parents permission, but engagement is allowed.

  9. yes, in the UK at any rate, an engagement is not a legally binding agreement so you could get engaged before 16.  x

  10. of course it is legal, no engagements are legally binding in the Western world.

  11. No its actually not.. Being engaged is a promise to someone, not an actual legal status, when i was 14 i knew a girl in my class who was engaged to her boyfriend, But if you think that you'll still be together when you're 16 then ok, there are no laws against it as long as hes you're age and not like 20 or something.

  12. why the h**l would you want to get engaged at such a young age? and dont tell me that your in love because i doubt that you can even spell the word never mind know what it means. live life first before tying yourself down, not 16 years old but maybe 26 is a better age

  13. i think that it is legal to get engaged before your 16 because you can turn back when ever.

  14. To my knowledge completely legal anywhere in the Western world. Again the age of marriage will depend on the country, etc.

  15. If someone is at the age of consent, which varies from state to state and country to country, then there's nothing illegal about it.

  16. Before you are 16 you are legally a minor and any agreement can be nullified by any adult.  Even after 16 you still need the consent of a parent or guardian.

If the other half is over 16 then they could end up on the s*x offenders register for grooming.

  17. lol

    no it's not illegal

  18. Getting "engaged" is not a legal issue.  It is nothing more than someone promising to marry someone else.  Anymore, it means little more than what people used to call "going steady".

Any 13 yrs old can call themself "engaged", and there is no law they are breaking.  A 13 yr old can say they are going to buy Microsoft when they are 17.. nothing illegal about that either.  Does not make it real.  You know and I know that by the time they get to 16 or 21, they will have done something else and figured out that they were not old enough to be "engaged".

The law is not concerned with fantasies of kids.

  19. its not illegel but your stupid

  20. yes you can get engaged before 16 but its extremely unwise
