  1. It is not illegal to learn any forms of martial arts... it is illegal to USE deadly force unless you are defending yourself.  Even in ultimate fighting, the combatants don't use deadly force - they certainly use incapacitating efforts, but they don't attempt to kill their opponent.   Could they? I wouldn't volunteer!

  2. the samurai and ninja began training their warriors around the age of 5, so it doesnt matter if kids are in the class..that being said, i would recommend krav maga, pekiti tirsia kali, systema, or brazilian jiu jitsu if you want to learn how to take someone out hard and fast

  3. it is not illegal to learn it.... but it would be illegal to use it with intent to hurt someone....

  4. I cannot fully answer this but just a fact(where I live at least)if your a black belt you have to be registered with the police so they know.

  5. the people that practice TKD and BJJ have never killed anyone with techniques from those arts. yes, yes, many will argue with that i know and i don't care. if you to learn a REAL killing art then find one.

  6. It is not illlegal to learn any martial art, and any martial art if taught well and trained correctly can be deadly, even TKD. Almost every style has chokes in it, which can kill. Many have neck breaking techniques, which would really ruin someones day. That being said what you learn legally can only be used for self defense, and then only the minimum amount of force required to handle the situation may be applied.

As for what Martialf said, yes there are many karate schools out ther that are more interested in turning out BB for money, but there are also many good traditional schools that will teach you real martial arts that are more then adiquate to defend yourself. Saying that all karate is bad is like saying that all people who train BJJ are arrogent a******* based on the Gracies. It just doesn't fly. And don't think with the popularity of MMA that there are not going to be plenty of schools out there opening up to make money, and providing sub standard training. In 10 years people may well be treating MMA like you guys do to karate, Kung Fu, and TKD today.

And to the people who say they have had to register their hands with the police, please go home. I am not aware of that requirement anywhere in the United states.

  7. It is not illegal to learn martial arts of any sort and train in any martial art you like.  It's not the martial art itself that is dangerous but you the person.

There are so many different martial arts and for many different purposes.  Tae Kwon Do is actually thought of as a "dancing" martial art and has no real use in a combat scenario.  Reality Based martial arts such as jiu-jitsu, ju-jutsu, krav maga, jeet kune do, or MMA training are where you really learn essential fighting skills.

And it is just a rumor that you have to register yourself after you receive a black belt.  It's just retarded.  I have trained with many "so called blackbelts" from chain karate school and most of no fighting talent whatsoever.  If you want to see really talented fighters, go to a top BJJ or MMA school.  There you can learn and see what real martial arts are like.

  8. This is just perpetuating the myth of "deadly" martial arts.  All martial arts teach defense and ways to subdue an attacker.  These myths about "deadly" techniques or death touches are just that; myths.  Don't buy into all that nonsense.  It matters who the practioner is and whether or not he is capable of killing someone.
