Is it illegal to own a police night stick in NY?

I was wondering id it illegal to own a old police night stick? I've searched around and haven't really found anything yet that helps! I have one that was my fathers and is now mine - since he's past. And i'm just wondering could i get into trouble by having it? I did see that someone tried to sell one and ebay - but it was removed because of some state laws. Please Help.

Yes it is illegal. It is illegal to posses the night stick if you do not have a permit for it.

Here in CA that is the procedures fro night sticks. Even my 5d mag lite flashlight is considered under a night stick

No it's not illegal to own a night stick, as long as is not being used during the commission of a crime. ANY item when used in the commission of a crime it becomes a weapon ie chair to hit someone in the head,pen to poke an eye out. you get the idea.

Nope, as long as it is not stolen.

And... you don't use it for an assault :)
