Is it illegal to paste licensed material to another surface and sell it?

Let's say I take a Disney Princess picture that was purchased at retail and paste it to a peice of wood and sell it. Is this illegal?

  1. Yeah because the picture is copyrighted until the author dies and 70 years passes hope this helped.


  2. Trademark legislation is complex, but generally:

        * a name cannot be copyrighted, but can be protected as a trademark, whether used as a design or not

        * logos are generally protected under trademark legislation (check for the  or  symbols)

        * don't use someone else's trademark in a way which would allow you to profit from the logo, or to confuse you with the real owner

        * you may use marks and logos to criticise or parody the trademark owner, as long as it is clear you aren't the real owner

        * remember many cartoon characters are protected as trademarks
