  1. its not as long as u dont lend them   or sell them  but hey whos watching u

  2. It's not illegal if its for purely personal use (not to show for profit in theaters or something). But if you record it to duplicate it and sell it, then yes it is illegal, though people have found ways around that too (by selling from outside the US, etc.)'

Anyway, its not illegal to record movies or tv shows for personal use at home. Otherwise the police would be breaking down my door for the boxes and boxes of VHS tapes, and DVDs I have of taping "General Hospital", "7th Heaven", "Gilmore Girls" and other TV shows and movies.

Its only illegal if you try to copy and sell the unauthorized recordings.

      Otherwise, no its not illegal.

  3. i think it is illegal.

  4. yuppity, yup, yup ,yup

  5. It's not illegal to record programs off of TV.  It's no different than On Demand programs, as long as you don't sell them.

  6. No, It is not illegal, but it is illegal if you sell them.

  7. it is ilegal even though million or even billion of people have done it

  8. It's not if you use it for private home use only, which means you can't sell, show it to, or lend them to anyone.

  9. I've taped them for years on my VCR, why would DVD be any different?

  10. i dont think so - only if you sell them or charge people to view them does it become illegal. Am I wrong here?

  11. yes especially if you then share them

  12. Yes, it is...It's like making a copy of a movie u rented from Block Buster.

You have to think of Movies-On-Demand like a movie rental. You didn’t buy the movie, you rented it and all rules and restrictions apply.

Everyone that told you that it is legal for “personal use” are wrong because as I stated above you didn’t actually buy the movie, you are just renting it. There is a huge legal difference!

  13. Not illegal to record for personal use.

Now if you sell them that could be illegal.

Lending a friend and renting as a store are two different things.

Lending a friend the DVD comes into a gray zone .. what if he did not have HBO and he came over to watch it at your house. Renting it out would be illegal.
