  1. Where i live , yes it is illegal .

There are signs at the beginning of every highway that show no horseback, bicycle , or walking .

So im guessing its like that for every state. . .

  2. In California it is.

  3. no its only dangerous

  4. Yes, both illegal and dangerous.

  5. GO FOR IT!!!

  6. Legal, but with conditions.  In California, you may ride your bicycle on the highway if there is no other available route.  For instance, you may ride your bike on the highway to get across a lake or a canyon, but you must get off at the next exit.

The worse part is all of the road debris on highway shoulders.  The noise is also bad.  However, the highway shoulder is much wider than a typical bike lane, so it's not as scary as you would think.  Car drivers will sometimes try to intimidate cyclists, but you can find jerks anywhere.

  7. Some are marked no bikes and some are marked as a bike route.

  8. It's not illegal, but extremely dangerous.  Think a little more about it before you do it.

  9. To my knowledge, it's not illegal anywhere to ride your bike on a highway. Depending on traffic and shoulders, it may or may not be dangerous.

Riding on freeways, however, is illegal virtually everywhere east of the Missouri River and to the west it's up to individual states whether to allow it at all.

  10. it depends what you mean by "highway".

in most, but not all states, its illegal to bike on the interstate.

  11. yes it is illegal , well in washington it is

  12. On an Interstate it is Illegal, but it matters what the state law is for a state highway.
