Question:

Is it illegal to say "bomb" on an airplane?

Now of course no moron would scream out "BOMB!" on a plane for no reason... but as we have learned from contemporary comedy cinema, sometimes the word just happens to come out, or at least be misconstrued as the word. So what happens? Are plane crews really that touchy about the word?

  1. It is not illegal, but you will most likely be escorted off the airplane....or dragged. But they will find you as a threat and you may not even take that airline again

  2. You can use it in a conversation, as long as it is not a stupid one like saying that you have one.  Defenitely don't say it as a single word.  Even if it's not illegal the airline can kick you out for life and the FBI can interrogate your for hours.

  3. It really cracks me up that you would use "contemporary comedy cinema" as your point of reference. It is not "Illegal", but it is certainly inadvisable.

  4. It is not illegal to say it, but it can be construed as an illegal act depending on the situation.  In today's paranoid police state, just saying it is usually interpreted as prima facie evidence of some illegal act or the intention of committing some illegal act.

The fact that a real bad guy would take great care NOT to say "bomb" in this type of situation seems to be lost on the police state.

  5. yes it is illegal to say bomb, I'm a terrorist, I'm going to highjack the plane or anything to that effect.  You can say that on a plane or in an airport. You can't say it at all, not even as a joke.

  6. I doubt it's illegal, but very stupid to say. Try to avoid the word, or words that are similar.

  7. probably not.

  8. Actually it is true, if you do say bomb on the plane or in the airport TSA will come and arrest you. I'm not making this up. When i was in LAX( Los Angles Airport) when i was waiting in line for security. TSA had a sign up, listing how it was an act of terrorism if you yell "bomb" or other words that  would provoke panic. Yeah, so dont yell or anything similar to it!

IF you did it on the plane it would depend. IF you  looked shady and a serious threat, you might be apprehended by the air marshal, but if you looked like you weren't a threat, they would only look at you suspiciously and wouldn't do anything. But always remember that people do crazy irrational things when they feel threatened or are nervous

  9. There have been instances when idiots that think they have a sense of humour, have been arrested for claiming they have a bomb in their case when asked the usual questions at check in.

Shouting "bomb" on an aircraft is highly likely to be regarded as disorderly conduct on an aircraft and result in prosecution. Afterall what other genuine reason would there be other than to cause alarm or distress?

The air travel industry is quite rightly that touchy about the word. There are times when idiots have to put a plug in it and being on an aeroplane is one of them.

[What if you scream "BLAHHHMMBB!" technically it wasn't "bomb." Can you still be taken out by an air marshall? Can you sue if enough earwitnesses claim that it was indeed the nonsensical word "Blahmb?"]

Why are you so interested in exploring this moronic behaviour?

Creating a disturbance and shouting anything is still disorderly conduct so sit down on the plane and shut up!!!

  10. Yeah, they are. "Homeland (read as Deutschland) Security" is just waiting for an excuse. Recall the mentally impaired boy who was killed on the tarmac or the little old lady getting taken off, or a woman passenger who died for no reason in a airport security office, after airport police arrested and hurt her. I hate going through airport security, especially in America, and all the cops eyeing you and waiting for suspicious looking people, and all this over our govt lies of "world-wide" terrorist threats in order to suppress public dissent to THEIR criminal activities. Our govt really wants democracy only for the ruling rich elites and hates it otherwise.

  11. It depends on how you use it.

  12. ok if you just say "bomb" it depends the way you use it, but if you say it in a pannic way than yes very much so

  13. If you said you had a bomb while onboard an airplane, you would be handcuffed and escorted off.  Doesn't matter if there were marshalls on or not, the flight crew would tell the captain, and the captan would call for police.  Plain and simple.  If you had watched your colleagues being flown into a building by terrorists, wouldn't you be a little "touchy" about potential threats on a plane?  This is even prior to 9/11, there are things you just don't say.  You want to say it?  Have fun, but don't be surprised if you end up in handcuffs watching your plane depart without you on it.  Happy flying.
