Is it illegal to sell heroin in the UK?

Would it be perfectly legal to grow a small opium poppy field in the 2 acres of space I have in my garden and collect the opium. I then intend to refine this into heroin using some of my knowlege of chemistry which I will sell to some people in my neighbourhood to supplement my income. I have spoken to various people on this matter, and most seem to say it's ok as long as I don't sell the heroin to anyone under 18, but I'm still not 100% certain. Any help would be appreciated.

Heroin is illegal ANYWHERE and if it's not illegal everywhere it needs to be illegal. My Uncle battled his heroin addiction for 27 years and died in 2005 after committing suicide because he couldn't stand going through withdrawl from heroin. Heroin is a horrible drug and in my opinion, if you sell or manufacture it you should go to jail for life. Not only do drugs destroy the person that's using them but they destroy the addicts family and friends lives.
