  1. good quistion

  2. yeah welll lord of the rings is sh*t anyway

  3. Its in the script.

  4. i think they usually smoke in the outdoors. can't remember seeing them smoking indoors.

they may just be cigarettes that they smoke in the theatre which arem't real.

i will have a think about this!

  5. Because there's an exception to the law, permitting smoking for this purpose if it is essential to the character or the plot. It's called an "artistic licence" clause.

  6. Because there is an exception for films and theatre. In the same way they can use weapons and wear police uniforms.

  7. That is actually a very serious issue that is causing a lot of problems in the film and TV industry! For example, in the Hobbit film being shot in New Zealand, where the anti-smoking laws are even tougher, there is a big argument about whether the Dwarves and hobbit characters are allowed to smoke, or even pretend to smoke!

  8. Good question!

I think this is because film and television production carry rights in being able to being able to portray certain required character traits/occupations/activities (e.g. policemen or smokers) on the set of their grounds.

'Smoking at work' quote: "The law also includes a limited exemption for performers, which applies to the performer only during the performance, where the artistic integrity of a performance makes it appropriate for a person who is taking part to smoke."

    :)

  9. Because they are portraying people smoking in their own homes
