I just want to know because I've been having this argument with my step-dad. I'm pretty sure in Canada its illegal to take someone else's prescription medication but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone know for sure ?

  1. There should be a sticker on the bottle which says it's a violation of federal law for the drug to be taken by anyone other than to whom it is prescribed.

If just anybody could take it , it would be sold over-the-counter.

  2. In the United States, any controlled substance that requires a prescription taken by someone other than the prescribed individual is illegal. However, sometimes a doctor will prescribe medication that is over-the-counter (OTC) such as Ibuprofen 500mg or Aspirin 81mg -- those would not be illegal for someone else to take.

Canada should have the same law in regards to this since we have many similar laws.

  3. Not so much illegal as just incredibly stupid.

  4. You've gotten some very good answers so far. I live in the

U.S.A. not Canada. You did not say what type of meds

you're referring to. In the U.S.A. we classify prescription

medications as Controlled Substances or non-controlled.

If you call a pharmacist in your area they know the law.

    Hope this helps!

  5. I'm not sure if it's illegal, but you're definitely not supposed to.

  6. Not illegal, not advisible, but not illegal

  7. Yes It says so on most rx bottles. ask a police man.

  8. It's illegal in the U.S., but everybody does it, even cops' families
