Is it illegal to work for a real estae brokerage and for manufactured home sales?

I currently work for a real estae broker but would like to sale manufactured homes as well.

  1. You can't without your broker's permission.

    If they find out, they will drop you from the brokerage, which means you are out of business with home sales.


  2. In most states the manufactured homes are sold either with a lease for the land or in conjunction with the land it sits on.  You need a license for that because the realty is the land.  You don't need a license to sell cars and the mobile home without the land is more like a car than a house.

  3. Check your state laws, but generally, manufactured homes are not considered real property anyway.  They're personal property, just like jewelry or furniture.  If you'd be able to work for a furniture store and sell real estate, then it doesn't seem like there should be any issue selling manufactured home and real estate.  Besides, as a realtor, you could help manufactured home purchasers buy property for the unit.  Again, check your state laws on the issue.
