My child is currently enrolled 2 days a week in childcare.

Is it important that they go to a specific kinder programme, or is what happens in childcare sufficient preparation for Prep?

The fact that kinder is not available during school holidays would present a real problem for us.

  1. The key is what (if any) curriculum is being used regardless of where you send your child. There are some good curriculums and if they are used properly they are very effective for getting children ready for school. Curriculums:

    High Scope

    Creative Curriculum

    Project Construct

Also you need to consider who the other children are in the facility you pick. It might be helpful if your child is attending where his/her future classmates are.

    good luck

  2. Is this a daycare verses preschool question?  If it is, I highly recommend a structured preschool specifically disignated for kindergarten readiness. Daycare is babysitting with a few educational things thrown in - not total preschool.
