I think it's important for your self - esteem to look your best. If you dress like a slob every day and you know it, you're not gonna feel the best way about yourself, eh?

I take a lot of pride in the way I look. I think it's fun getting primped and ready.

I agree, if you have the money to make yourself look decent. Do it!

i think u r right to a great extent because your look describes what kind of person u r...... but i believe that it is most important to work on the inner appearence  i mean purity of the heart , soul & thought which is not  visible to anybody....... then the outer appearence will  no more  be in need of care.......... we should be thankful for what we are........ and what we have...... people do not respect you because of your appearence but because of the type of person you are............... thank you..... nice question

Dispite the fact that it boast your confidence, we all have to take a good care of ourselves, it feels like you own the world whenever u turn that corner and someone pitch up and say  wow u look amazing and it feels so right, so yah it is d**n well important to look good

I think that everyone should try to look at their best, and I feel it is important to give the impression of taking good care of your looks to others. Personal hygiene is very important and should be number 1 priority in what you look like, as you can tell from hygiene about someones personality. I try to look nice all the time, and if I dont then I dont feel my best. I love looking good.

depends I use to never try to look the best! but no i do try to look the part!

if i'm a sales person and i dress like a slob no one is going to by my stuff!  if ican't take care of myself then what's to make one think i can take care of there account!

if i'm at home doing nothing then comfort wins!

I was also told ifyour at home and you dress nicely or with effort that you feel better about yourself so i strongly suggest anyone who feels down to dress with effort!

yes i think it is important to take pride in the way that you look. now this doesnt mean that you are s****., you just care about your appearance. alot of people think that if you take pride in the way that you look or try to look your best that you are a snob. but, seriously, looking your best IS important. because your apperance may be someone else's first impression of you.

At home it's one thing to go for comfort over fashion and the like. Why go around in a Chanel dress when you could be weaing sweats and be comfortable?

I do believe that people should take care of themselves, such as showering, brushing teeth and the like.

At the least, it's important to be clean, and try to appear neat and tidy.

As individuals, we have a lot of self esteem tied up in our appearance.

If we no longer bother to wash or take basic care of our appearance it can signal depression or other problems in a person's life.

I agree with you, I do think everyone should take some care over their appearance and a certain pride in the way they look. Even if your having a scruffy day you can still make a little effort not to be offensive. Not necessarily wearing full make up but just being clean and having your hair cut once in a while and generally maintaining your clothes, a little effort goes a long way.

Two things....

Personal hygiene is important, as it impacts on those around you- no-one likes to smell another, be it breath or body odour.

Other than that, the whole question gets a subjective answer. If you go to a formal occasion anywhere in the world you will see different styles of dress, and all of these people believe they look their best. I don't wear sarongs, but I'd have to to attend an Indo wedding, as trousers aren't acceptable.

So, you might think I best in chinos, shirt and tie, my Mum might think I look best in a morning suit, my girlfriend might think I look best in tight jeans, and I might think I look best in board shorts.

Likewise with hairstyles and facial hair, who can say whether I look best with or without it- it is all down to personal opinion.

I personally think that the ideas of uniforms and ties are very much out of date. Clothing should be decent- no-one should embarrass another through their choice of clothing- parents shouldn't have to tell their kids to look away because someone has "indecent" clothing on which exposes parts that the majority of society would consider indecent. It should also be appropriate to climate, and should keep one warm. Other than that, the only thing that matters to me is comfort. I really don't care what others think, as any problems they have are theirs, not mine.

Certain invitations and formal occasions require  a dress code, and I would respect these because I respect the hosts right to ask me to adhere to a standard. I might be most comfy in shorts and a T-shirt, but wouldn't turn up at a wedding in that gear, as it might offend the host, and any respectful person wouldn't do that.
