Is it important to wash or dryclean blankets?

Is it important to wash or dryclean blankets that we use everyday. Is there any other solution to clean them?

i usually haul mine to the laundromat once a week. nice big washers & dryers. PITA, but worth it.

Yes it is important, especially to rid the dust mites. In between cleanings try fluffing them in the dryer with a dryer sheet.  They'll smell nice and fresh!

I wash my blankets in the washing machine all the time. It makes them smell fresh and not like oils, food, etc. Try washing them at least once a month if you use them all the time.

Yes, it is important.  If they are washable, washing is best as dry cleaning always leaves a smell which is toxic if too strong.  If they are covered with sheets and spreads then they should not need washing too often.  They will smell fresher after.

If they are bulky blankets, use a duvet cover... they are as easy to wash as sheets. Wool blankets will shrink if not washed in cold and hung to dry. I put them in duvet covers too. I won't buy a blanket that I can't wash.
