because you want more hours? Due to downsizing, my job is only part time, and full time is only available to my managers. Should I say that I'm leaving to find a full time job in my letter of resignation?

  1. This would be appropriate. Just keep it very professional and don't quit until you have the other job secured. Employers value this kind of feedback, and who knows, they might even call you back if they can afford to take you on later for more time... :)

  2. If you like your job and want to fight for it but it is currently unacceptable and you feel you need to quit, always include a explanation of why in the resignation letter.

If your boss can't do anything about it, then you aren't losing anything.

However, if your boss can do something about it, then the problem might get solved.

    Either way, you win.
