  1. yes it's VERY rude. it's no one's business what the carat of another girls ring is or how much it cost.

  2. A little tacky in any case, but if you know the person VERY well and they're a good friend or close relative, no problem.

If you don't know them, yeah, that's just tacky.

  3. It's rude to ask. If it is your best friend or your sister then it is ok to ask.

  4. always rude to ask.

  5. Very tacky.

  6. rude unless she's your really good pal

  7. It's pretty tacky - it's like asking someone how much money they make.

  8. if it is your ring i would just take it to a jeweler to get it appraised without him knowing. but i would not be offended if someone asked me how many carats are in my ring. i would be very proud to tell anyone 3. if it is a big ring, ask. if it is small don't ask.

  9. tacky. Don't ask.

  10. I think it's pretty rude. I've got a carat and a half and I'm always appalled that someone would go "How big is that?", especially if I barely know them. If I know them well then I don't mind too much.

  11. Yes, it's very rude and tacky to ask.  Besides, if you know anything about diamonds, (if it's even a real diamond!!!)  it's not the size that matters but the quality of the stone.
