Question:

Is it inappropriate to ask about pay before applying? I'm a student nurse trying to weigh options.

I am a student nurse graduating in December. I already have a job offer and will be hired in September if I choose to work where I completed my nursing externship. Consequently, I have to somehow weigh my options and pay and benefits are HUGE factors. Is it inappopriate to ask about these things before applying?

Any other application etiquette/advice?

  1. It is more appropriate to ask re: the pay either during the interview

or after you have been offered the job

to make sure you ask for the pay you deserve

    go to: www.payscale.com

save to your favorites the best site

  2. It's not improper to ask how much your wage will be when you are offered a job - they should be willingly giving you that information if they are offering you a job. Just call their HR department and ask them. I'd also ask them to send you a package detailing benefits such as health insurance, disability coverage, etc.

  3. No I don't think it is inappropriate at all. For hospitals especially the application process can be long. There is no point in going through the process if the job isn't going to be a good fit for you.

  4. put on  the application the pay rate you are expecting. ask others who work there what they make and ask for an appropriate amount
