I've gained weight and don't have any decent dress clothes that fit. Just this skirt. Do I need to go buy something?

  1. Depends on how formal the wedding is and how short the skirt is. If it's rather short and the wedding is rather formal, I'd say no. If it's semi-formal, it's probably fine. Also, the choice of top can change the overall classiness of the outfit and make the skirt seem more formal.

  2. As long as you aren't wearing all black you should be fine. Try to find a pretty top to go with it.

  3. I'd probably get a different skirt

  4. Why not use this as a good excuse to buy yourself a cute sundress and matching shoes that is appropriate for an informal wedding and you can wear it again.  Right now most stores have their summer clothes on sale and you will probably get a great bargain.

  5. yes

  6. How long is the skirt? As long as it at least hits the knee, you don't want to wear a mini skirt. If the skirt is shorter, wear more modest shoes or flats, otherwise, black pumps are fine.

Try not to wear ALL black, pair the black skirt with something pretty and in some sort of bright, summery colour. Although the only exception to that rule is don't wear a plain white blouse, or you'll look like a member of the wait staff.

It might not hurt to browse the mall, especially if you aren't feeling confident in the skirt you think you'll wear. Right now a lot of summer dresses and clothes are on sale because the fall clothes are coming in.

I know it's the bride's day but that doesn't mean that as a guest you can't look nice at her wedding. :)

Note that while wearing black to a wedding, when it's conservative and ALL black, is still a bit of a 'faux pas'. But if you break up black with colour, it really is okay. I've even seen people wear a little black dress to weddings, as long as it doesn't look morbid it's usually fine.

  7. nope  put it on and go be as hot as you can be!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. ya i would. maybe a cute dress in your size :) good luck <3

  9.   As high as gas prices are, yes you do need to buy somthing else more formal.

  10. sounds fine I always wear black to a wedding the bride is the only one that should be shining that day

  11. I don't think so. how fancy is the wedding? Do you have a nice shirt too? Because if you do then I think its OK

  12. Why would you wear something more than once in the first place. That's so cheap...

  13. Yes. You need to buy something else.

It's not appropriate to wear black skirt and pumps.

  14. If it's an informal wedding then it will be fine.  Besides, all eyes will be on the bride!

  15. well how short is the skirt....

  16. It's ok.  Find a nice, colorful blouse to go with it.

  17. Well sounds like a shopping trip is in store for you but only because you probably need some nice things anyway(we all do lol) The skirt and shoes are fine, just wear some nice top but not a white one.You will be fine.

  18. Uh,..... Nevermind..

  19. Well, generally the rule is not to wear black to a wedding. But, if you must, even it out with a colored shirt.

  20. it will be fine just wear a nice blouse with it maybe with a small colorful print like flowers or polka dots but not a huge pattern.its all about the bride any way.go and have fun.we are not all a size 2 and that's good cause how boring would that be???? good luck!

  21. I think it's ok to wear it. Times are different now, and it won't be considered disrespectful or anything. I would.

  22. ok

  23. It all depends on the skirt & pumps.  If the skirt is "tasteful" - not too short or too tight and as long as the pumps are stilleto, there's nothing wrong with it.    The only thing is you may be a bit under dressed - I went to a wedding last summer, 2 weeks away from giving birth to my 3rd child - not wanting to waste money on an expensive maternity party dress I wore dressy clothes that are dressy enough for a family gathering, but not for a wedding in a big fancy hall.  Needless to say I felt super  out of place.   Unless its a super small wedding, you may want to buy something new.

  24. If you like what you are gonna wear, wear it!

(but make sure the bride/groom don't care)

  25. Not at all! As long as it looks appropriate kinda of dress of course

  26. Wear it -- just don't wear all black.  I doubt anyone will notice.

  27. just wear what you feel most comfortable with

though depending on how well you know the bride and groom and how high profile wedding is might make you look out of place

  28. the skirt sounds fine, the pumps might be too much.

  29. Need more info:  What time and what style is the wedding?  What do you plan on wearing with the skirt?

If it's informal than you are fine.  Buy a dressy shirt.  Black is always in....especially at weddings.  It's only inappropriate for the mothers of the bride and/or groom to wear black b/c it is a sign of them disapproving of the marriage.  For guests it is only inappropriate to wear white.  That is reserved for the bride and anyone in her bridal party that she chooses.
