open toed sandals or dressy flip flops to work, for a woman?

It seems to me that our work dress has become more business casual. I work in a salon. I know this is somewhat of a fashion question, but I was wondering if most people would find it inappropriate to see someone working with their toes showing. Thoughts?

  1. I don't mind opened toes shoes in anywork environment, but flip-flops I have a problem with.  My work environment is an assisted living facility that allows the management/office personnel to wear flip-flops that are dressy (colored stones, etc.).  Even though it's allowed, I still don't feel comfortable wearing them, esp. when meeting with resident families.  I think that in a salon, where it is a more casual atmosphere, it would be fine as long as the shoe is not worn or too sporty.  You do what makes YOU comfortable for your work day.

  2. No, I would not think so.

  3. Well, unlike most people,

I find painted toes tacky.. unless it's a natural color. I don't know why, but it just seems really low-class to me.

Anyway, I have no problem with open toed shoes.

  4. You might consider the work environment,  getting peoples hair in your sandals would not be attractive.   If your  salon does manicures and pedicures, it may be good advertising.

Check the health code on this.

  5. In an office (especially one that deals with the public), I would say definitely NOT for a woman or a man.

Since you work in a salon though, unless it is one where most of it's clients are upper class or in a professional building, than I would think wearing sandals would be fine.

  6. In a salon it wouldn't bother me.. In a doctor's office, it would.... I know that sounds strange.. but it's my opinion.

  7. If you work in a salon I think that would be fine. Any other place a definite no. But people tend to dress more casual and fashionable in salons. Ask your boss or other co workers if you really aren't sure.

  8. Ask your boss, if he or she is OK with it, then you should be fine.

I would recommend the sandals, if you're choosing one though, they look slightly more professional.

  9. I don't think a salon would be a bad place to wear it. I mean, if you worked  in an office, that would be completely different, but a salon seems like it's fine to wear that. Maybe you could ask your boss if he/she would be okay with it ?

  10. I think it is , and most high class companies will not allow it.

    woof

  11. Closed shoes offer greater protection for your feet. What if you drop something & it breaks your toe(s)? Closed shoes also look more professional  & offer good arch support when you're on your feet alot.

  12. If someone else owns the salon, you should ask what they would prefer you wear and then dress accordingly.

It wouldn't bother me if I was your customer and you wore flip flops.  Just make sure that your feet are nicely manicured :~)
