Is it just Costa Smeralda area that is expensive in Sardinia or is it all expensive!??

I am goign there for a week with my boyfriend and heard it is so expensive! How much is it to eat out, buy an ive cream etc in the rest of the Island? Can anyone reccommend any good areas to stay near a nice beach not too long from Algero airport? Thanks!

We lived on Sardinia for two years and loved it! I don't think it is anymore expensive than the rest of Italy. Porto Cervo is a very upscale place but the rest of the island isn't that bad.

Alghero has some really nice beaches. I would suggest taking a boat to the Alghero caves. Short boat ride and it leaves right from old town. Alghero is about a 2 hours drive from where we lived...The best beaches I think are on Lamddalena....But that's a bit of a drive from Alghero.

Costa Smeralda is very beautiful beaches also...Check out Santa Teresa and Casltesardo also..Very small cute towns...
