I just got out of basic training, and comparing the stories and notes from the other people in my AIT, it seems that Fort Jackson, SC is just as difficult if not more difficult.

  1. The Army trains soldiers to the exact same standard regardless of the base.

  2. It's no myth...it's integrated training. A complete joke! I went in as a light wheel mechanic and was sent there...then later switch to artillery and went to ft. sill. Jackson was so laid back!

  3. Its just that a story, As long as it meets TRADOC standards then it was able to live up to every other basic training. How your drill SGT was is another matter

  4. Them recruiters will tell you anything, to get you in. <}:-})

  5. don' t you believe it for a minute the army is strict and you better play by their rules!

  6. Some make up stories - basic is all the same. This is your first experience with braggers and know-it-alls and it gets worse.

  7. I did my OSUT at Ft. Benning and from talking to soldiers who did their training elsewhere there is definately differences in the intensity and strictness at different bases. There is a reason it is nicknamed Relaxin' Jackson but it certainly isn't all fun and games there either.

  8. Basic is roughly the same where ever you go with the possible exception of Ft. Benning being a little tougher because those people are going combat arms/infantry/SF.  The Army does everything by basic standards and the only differences will come from specific personnel involved that might make things better or easier than someplace else.

  9. Yes yes it is, they get other people to run and do pull ups for you so you don't have to. No of course not, they still have to meet with all the standards.

  10. I wouldn't say relaxing. Relaxin Jackson is a relative term. Women and REMF's train there, so, naturally it is not going to be quite as rigid as Benning or someplace that turns out Infantry, Airborne and Rangers.
