  1. It's true. In Masters Series tournaments or any other one like the Rogers Cup, the men and women play best of 3 sets, which means first one to 2 sets wins.

On the other hand, when the grand slams come which there are only four, the men have to play best of 5 sets which means first one to 3 sets wins. It separates the grand slams from the other tournaments, and that's why winning a grand slam is harder and more grand and extra pride for the players, just because you have to put more effort into the match and you never know how long it can last. The women always play best of 3 sets, even in grand slams.

  2. in grand slams men have the possiblity of playing 5 sets.. whoever is first to win 3 sets.. it can be 3 sets, 4 sets, or 5 sets... outside of the grandslams men can win in 2 sets....

women on the other hand always win by 2 sets....

  3. the grand slams and the tennis master cup

  4. I believe the only grand slam where it has to be winning 3 sets is now Wimbledon.

  5. Currently it's only the Grand Slams and the Master Cup finals where the men play best of 5 sets.

There use to be an option to play the finals of all Master Series events as the best of 5 sets but ESPN didn't want to allow that much time to televise it, so it's now the best of 3 sets in all 9 Master Series tournaments.
