Why would they name their fragrance products "old spice", and yet people still buy it? or what about eau de toilette or whatever its called? Sure they smell good, but I don't find those names too be persuasive..at all. Do you?

  1. old spice is known very well for YEARS (literally) and for how good it works. people look past the name and how effective it is.

my husband uses old spice...simply because his dad used to wear it while growing up..plus it works well.

guys also usually dont really care about the name unlike women

  2. It's a horrible name and I don't really like the smell, plus it clashes with anything else I would use (soap, deodorant, etc). I wouldn't buy any cologne for less than $10 a bottle - you get what you pay for.

  3. I like Old Spice cologne because it smells  good and is inexpensive.  I also use Old Spice deodorant, but I wish it was less  expensive.

OS advertising uses a sailor with an old sailing ship in the background.  I suppose the name refers to the time when the spice trade was so important and sailors were macho men, risking death on every voyage.

I think the name is fine.
