Question:

Is it just me, or is the sociopolitical environment of Beijing 2008 an awful lot like Berlin 1936?

These Olympics were very important in portraying a specific public image as a global presence. If, say, a Chinese conspiracy is proven (i.e. forging documents on some of their female gymnasts or obviously corrupt officiating) and they are humiliated after proving their might and achievements at the Olympics, do you think a war may be started? I remember another powerful nation once, in 1936, built a huge summer Olympic complex that astounded the world and opened its doors to try to convince the world they had nothing to hide and were a friendly nation. 3 years later, that nation, Germany, invaded Poland igniting World War II. Is Beijing 2008 a prelude to World War III?

  1. Minus the troops on display with goosestepping boots; perhaps your observations is correct. Stories of visitors are very similar. In essence they all agree that China in Beijing, did a wonderful job with the Olympic venues. However; as most visitor are inclined, would like to venture and see other aspects of China. What was allowed appeared sterile. The same scenario indicated historically from those who encounter the Berlin Games under n**i control.

  2. Yep, History has a way of repeating itself.

  3. no, in fact the chinese are less racist than americans. Look at your allies, everyone of them are white english speaking nations. The US has already invaded Asia for the begining of the third world war. Which is happening as we speak. For your reference I'll have you know that the place you call "the middle east" doesn't really exist, it is part of Asia. You only classify people by skin color though so combining arabs and what we think of as Asians may seem confusing to you but I assure you that is how the rest of the world looks at the region.

  4. Wars can start for any number of reasons.

The trick is making it so that your enemies can't start one.

  5. Yes.

Carter and Clinton made a mistake when they both tried to help China's economy grow. They should have let the country's government collapse. (Democrats said they were against a regime change in China. They said Americans buying more Chinese products will keep the communists in power)

  6. Yes the Golden Buffalo, Israel, Japan, Egypt, and all the non English speaking European countries are White, English speaking nations. And we all know the middle east is in Asia, just as we all know the far east is in Asia as well. Asia just happens to be big, and dividing it up based on geography and differences in ethnicities makes sense. You dont have to go on the whole dumb Americans spiel, I can almost guarantee I am more intelligent than you.

Anyway, it is remarkably similar, but I dont think anything big will come of this.

  7. Do you mean "are the Chinese fascists"? Yes.

  8. your not alone alot of people are seeing a resemblance.
