Is it just me,or is it really annoying when people call you "sweetie"or "honey"?

i mean,i'm 13!of course i don't care if it's my mom or someone like that,but if it's anyone else,it's soooo annoying.

I don't like it either, but I don't make a big deal out of it. It's their bad habit not mine.

actually I have no problem with the sweetie or honey things, but if someone who call me like that is someone that i've been hate or i've been ignored, of course it's gonna be soo annoying

that is SOOOO annoying!!!! it's especially creepy when teachers do it. it's even creepier when i'm at a store or something and my mom asks where something is and the person says (to my mom) "aisle three honey" or when someone calls my mom "young lady" (even though she's about the same age as all the other moms)

If a strange guy says it it pi$$es me off.  If a woman says it it could be interpreted as condescending.

i don't really care but sometimes when you walk into a shop and peole are like it kind of makes me think i must look really young or something

You aren't alone in feeling that way.  It think it's extremely annoying too, and I'm 20.  So it probably won't annoy you any less as you age.

It is usually rude to call someone sweety or honey. But people usually don't mean to be rude when they say it. If it bothers you, the best thing to do is reply, "You're welcome, honey". This works best if you are younger than the person who called you that.

please everyone, if she says that she does not like sweetie or honey then why say it?

i am guessing its your mom who is calling you sweetie and honey, am i right?

you need to breath for a moment and think about what it really means.

it means she loves you. very much.

but if you dont like it...just tell her.

BUT please listen, it must be a habit so PLEASE give her time.

get on to her nicely when she does it again.

say " mom please dont call me that"

second time she does it "mom, we talked about that"

and third-"mom! please stop calling me that"

Nobody but my wife gets to call me "sweetie" or "honey".

NOBODY gets to call me "son" or "boy". That's insulting to me.

I know what you mean it really bugs me to but its usually old people so I just avoid them.

It annoys me too!  I'm 25, but apparently I still look like I'm in high school.  The waitresses who call me "sweetie" are undoubtedly younger than I am!  It's very condescending.

It also annoys my mom, who's middle-aged; she says it makes her feel old when people call her "honey."
