  1. Yeah I thought so. Cracker of a fight though.Scared the pants off Khans' side eh?I was itching to see it go another round.

Look it's like this,he was never going to win but wot a f'kin diamond fight he gave 'im.Sent him back to the practice boards.Good on ye Gomez.Bet he's hurting tonight,oh yeah!

  2. Yeah khan was nailing him but he was taking every single blow. He should have been left to get on with it. I wanted to see how much more he could take!

  3. i agree the fight should of carried on

  4. that fight should have carried on . i mean was the ref blind it wasnt just khan who landed the heavy shots. gomez knocked khan down 10x worse then khan knocked down him.

  5. what about the poor man that khan knocked down , whilst speeding and breaking a red light, in bolton. he just died a few weeks ago. poor guy died broken and penniless.

WHY WASNT KHAN BANNED FOR DRIVING 4 LIFE?

  6. Initially, I thought the fight was stopped too early. However Gomez wasn't coming back with anything and if you watch the ref, you can see he's closely monitoring Gomez and checking out his eyes etc. Gomez took a h**l of a pounding to the old head and there's only so much a boxer can take and the ref has to take this into consideration when refereeing a match.

Gomez would have fought to the death, he's got a lot of heart and determination but he's got to consider his health. Taking hits like that and also in previous fights he's got to be mindful of his health.

In boxing matches, if you're at the point where you're unable to defend yourself and don't comeback with anything the ref has to consider stopping the fight for the competitors health and safety.

If you take the approach of letting them fight till the end, we'd see an increase in injuries and brain damage much like there used to be. This is why there are these safety measures and regulations in place, for the athletes benefit not the spectators.

  7. The ref was right to stop the fight because Gomez wasn't going to come back from the last lot of punches Khan laid on him; the man was forced across the ring and onto the ropes.

No doubt, Khan got careless a couple of times though.

  8. did you notice when gomez took his 8count and khan goto corner frank warren speaks to him, as ref when to call fighters to fight he looked at warren, warren gave ref a nod and next flurry of punches by khan ref stops it...............very suss

not that it should of as punches were'nt connecting or clean

  9. All you have to think about is, how much the ref got paid to stop the fight?

  10. The call was right, Gomez was on a hiding to nothing he would have fought to the death but Khan was superior.  You can't "just let em fight" its not bare knuckle, there are rules.  I thought the ref was weak,  there were so many holds at one point I felt as if I was watching Come Dancing.

  11. I agree. Boxing's getting a bit g*y these days the ref should not step until a fighter is basically out on his feet and can't even lift his hands up to defend himself. Gomez was taking some pretty bad hits and Khan probably would have gone on to win but Gomez was still fighting and well up for carrying on.

It's cause of the fights like Benn vs Mclellan where fighters have died or been seriously injured that they're far too careful nowadays. Boxing is a dangerous sport, when a fighter steps into the ring, he knows the risks and he's taking them willingly. There's gonna be accidents but on the other hand the rewards can be massive. That's just the way it goes, there's no such thing as safe boxing.

  12. your obviously a racist the body blow that put him down took its toll..gomez is as brave as they come but he had no comeback the ref was right..why give another 30 seconds and risk his life?..would you like to see him die in a vain attempt to beat a p**i?..shame on you

  13. Should have been left to finish the round in my opinion !

  14. i think the ref should have held off for 10 seconds or so, to see wether gomez could reply. yeah he was getting a hiding, but there was a couple of times when khan was pummeling him and he came back. gomez still had his gloves up and the punches werent clean hits by the time the ref called it so i think it was a bit g*y.

if gomez was a few years younger i think he would have smashed khans glass chin in half

  15. IT's difficult to say, but you cannot let boxers get seriously hurt in the ring, and I don't think any real boxing fan would want to see that. However we don't want to see matches ended when a combo is thrown.

I personally thought he ended it too early, but if you look at cortez in the Hatton Mayweather fight he didn't count hatton that match was finished as soon as hatton hit the floor.

It's difficult for referee's to get it right every time but I think he got it wrong on this one.
