Is it just me or do you get dizzy when you think how far space could go and how awesome it really is?

I do this sometimes and it really puts me in a good mood and i thought i might not be the only one out there who does this =). I would like to hear your ideas on what space to you is like (what we don't know about it yet)

  1. you shouldn't get dizzy when you think hard. And the thought of the vastness of the universe doesn't make me feel good or bad, it makes me feel small and negligible, because we don't matter to the universe. Our sun could supernova and obliterate us and Alpha Centauri would not be affected in the least, The andromeda Galaxy wouldn't care at all. It also fills me with wonder and i must know everything I can about stuff so those kinds of thoughts got me started in a very expensive hobby. especially when you drive it into the woods and look at the stars, we are very outnumbered.

  2. To me, space IS the final frontier. I don't think we will or even can ever understand it all. And when I'm looking through my telescope at something whos light took over a year to even reach me, I truly feel in awe of the whole universe.

  3. Kind of.

Most people really don't appreciate how big and empty space really is. They have no feel for the true size and seem to just assume, partly because of all the inaccurate science fiction movies, that things are a lot closer than they really are. That is because reality is a lot more boring. Even in the middle of the asteroid belt you probably couldn't see 2 asteroids at the same time because they are so far apart. The Oort cloud is supposed to have billions (with a B)  comets in it, but the individual comets are something like a hundred million miles apart. Just imagine, a swarm of a Billion things so spread out that no two are closer than 100 million miles from each other. And that is just an area kind of close to the Sun, not even including the nearest other star in that part of space. Space is REALLY EMPTY and REALLY BIG.

  4. Space is very vast and quite huge.  They're are millions and millions of miles strenching forth.  We have sent out a message out into the farthest galaxy we can fathom and it will take 389 million years to get there, and 389 million years for anyone to send a message back.  It's pretty cool stuff.

My father and i have a large and vast respect for the never ending space.  It is truly amazing and sometimes i get dizzy to looking up into the sky and just seeing that it goes up and up and up and up maybe forever.

I respect your feelings about space because Yes, i do have these feelings at times too.

    God Bless!!

  5. here now you can put it into perspective with these two videos

  6. Somebody said "never ending space".  Space does end.  It was created at the big bang is still being created and expanding today.  The question is, what was here before space and what is space expanding into?  Does it have to expand into something?  One theory and only one of many is that there are parallel universes in the form of membranes, called branes, When two branes touch they create another brane, a universe.  Now this does get dizzy.  If there an infinate number of branes then time travel is possible because you would not be traveling in time in your own universe but traveling between universes.
