Is it just me or does anyone else out there go to the top of the median when driving?

I thought that this was a crucial part of driving, in order for both vehicular parties to be able to have an unobstructed view in which to see cars that may be coming their way. But it seems that the more I go to the top of the median to cross, the more people get confused and yell at me? What gives?

it is legal in lots of places. pay attention to this, when you pull in the median do you make sure the back of your car is off the lane you just left, if not you are a huge obstacle to others in that lane.

Crossing any median is illegal and the fine starts at $500.00......
