  1. Your question is why I write about water, terrorism and energy issues. Raising the level of awareness about these survival issues is very critical to America's survival in the global economy. In my article entitled "Heightened Awareness, Elections and Leadership in America" I included the following paragraph:

"Only heightened public awareness of issues like energy, water and terrorism will really make a difference to the survival of this country. While very few of us need to be experts, a good working knowledge about these extremely important topics allows us to exchange meaningful ideas and question the experts and leadership. For some reason our politicians are unwilling to lead us. So the general public needs to take the lead. Need we continue to be puerile about these issues?"

So, yes, I also feel sometimes that the American people don't care about these issues. However, maybe a better description is that we are not as aware of the issues of global climate change and the real issue of using our natural resources and energy wisely as we need to be.

  2. More people would care about man made global warming if we believed it was true.

The environmental movement has been exagerating things since it began.  Many people believe about 10% of what environmentalists claim.  Most people care about the environment and want to protect it, but in a sensible way.

  3. I care.

The truth of the matter is that if enough people don't also care enough change will not occur to make a significant difference.

There is a critical mass so to speak in the amount of people that are needed to influence a cultural shift in perspective.

Don't worry there is a huge amount of people that also care and I believe this cultural shift is indeed starting to take place.

It will however be an on going battle as you can see many people on this forum are stubborn to change. It is like interracial rights. Many people believed in them whites, blacks and others but it took literally centuries before a full manifestation of mutual respect was widely accepted and bigotry was the fringe.

Fortunately I think we are more advanced in environmental awareness in a shorter period of time than it took to fight for abolition and segregation. In other words be optimistic as progress is being made and keep fighting the good fight. It is perserverance that will ultimately make the difference.

    Peace : )

  4. My schools is doing a zero waste thing. and I only think that some people are actuly aacting about it. My moms friend is getting solar water heaters for her pool in the summer so i am relly excited. And is biofuels and hybrids blocking the way for better vehicals?

  5. A lot of people care about global warming. I don't. I think it's a natural phenomenon despite all the great links to all the most fabulous scientific organizations in the world. It drives me crazy when people don't recycle. Or when they waste resources like fuel, disposable metals, etc. The subjects of, agw and general pollution and environmental carelessness are completely different.

  6. My sister and I save energy and recycle.

Also, I'm a vegetarian and she's a vegan, and vegetarians save 1000 acres of land a year, and obviously if you're  saving land, you're saving trees and that reduces global warming, so yeah, some of us care.

  7. It is just you.   Lots and lots of people are concerned about global warming (personally I do not think global warming is the big threat it is made out to be, however).

Now to confuse the global warming issue with recycling and pollution reduction, living with a less environmentally harmful footprint, is an error from my view.  I do not regard global warming as necessarily bad, nor do I accept that we people are the primary cause of global climate change.

I do believe very strongly (VERY STRONGLY) that human activities are causing extensive harm that can be reduced significantly, and that reducing this impact does not require implementation of extremely costly and economically disruptive changes.  I do not believe that scaring people about impending disaster (global warming catastrophe) is the best way to convert people to recognizing that they, as individuals, can modify their behavior which, in a cumulative fashion, will prove very beneficial to our living conditions, costs of living, and the environment in general.

Cranking up the propaganda machine and using misleading information, exageration, and hyperbole of an impending doom turns off more people than it converts, from my view.

You may not agree.  that is your right.

  8. that sound really good a positive working action .

    about the rice.

So much stuff is sold that advertises green

,are any of the profits for deforestation

    i very much doubt it.

And yes looking at the yahoo crowd

few people care about global Warming

    or even believe it

let alone wanting to do something about it

This is America the greatest country ever

    about to rule the world

I think these were far greater

  9. I agree with you, I think it's sad when people don't care about doing their part to help the environment, no matter how small. Every little bit helps - we need to think of our future generations as well. I'm very fortunate as I live in Australia, in a 'Green Town' - that is, a town where the local Government Council has made total inroads into environmental awareness and changes. Australia is right up there in regards to changing the way we live so as to protect our environment.  We still have some things to work on, like "clean coal" (which I don't agree with), I believe in renewable energy sources via wind turbines and solar power ect;  but we're really doing our bit to clean up our act.

And yes, I'll log onto that website - thanks mate!  :)

  10. you are right.. everywhere you see people throwing away things that can be recyled..  when my friends drink water from a waterbottle i ask if i can take it home and recyle it.. cuz i am a recyle freak and i am really worried about the enviorment..everyone thinks i am wiered but i dont care cuz i really want to change this earth we live in... i also think no one cares and it makes me really sad too.

  11. Many people don't take this seriously and I am just like you, It gets to me when someone doesn't try and recycle. I've recently wrote a letter to the mayor of my city asking if he could help our community and sign U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. You may have heard of theKyoto Protocol, it helps the community get together to help out with this matter. You might want to look into this and see if your city has signed this and maybe persuade your mayor into doing the same.

This is the site where I found my city:http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/mayor_h...

hopefully this helps you and Good Luck.

  12. Your inability to let people live free is what is killing off your "cause."

  13. We should only be concerned about pollution. And extinction of plants and animal species. I don't care how hot or cold the world gets cause it does it reguardless.

  14. There is a difference between polluting and global warming.

I want a clean environment and don't want people throwing their trash around, but running your car isn't going to stop the earth from warming.

Warming and cooling of the earth is a natural cycle.

  15. You have about 6% of the American population, almost all representing one political splinter group who still try to throw up obstacles to the survival of our species for the sake of their lifestyle and/or short term profit.  They are (far) less than 1% of the world population.  Yet these folks think it perfectly reasonable to demand the worlds scientists produce proof that they are not taking bribes because they have not abandoned a century's climate data and conclusions.

They think it perfectly reasonable to sit in a country where the main nutritional problem is obesity, on a planet where the main nutritional problem is starvation,  and declare Global Warming is fake because there have been no effects.  Half the world is without an adequate water supply and more than half without an adequate food supply, but in their eyes that is no effect because it involves poor people and people of color.

Rather than demand that "debate" resume about whether or not any of this is happening, and asking  the scientists to prove they are not taking bribes to not join their ranks, why can they not just issue the six and a half billion other people identification cards certifying their ideologic purity (with appropriate denierism stamps, seals, and signatures of course)?  It seems like this would be a more convenient and cheaper system for all involved.

  16. yeahh....nobody in my school cares about global warming.

Everybody throws away things that can be recycled and they even litter.
