  1. Yes I noticed they were all squinting, but I put it down too constipation, eating all that rice must have some affect on their colons

  2. I think LA smog is even worse.

  3. (holds sides to prevent them splitting).

  4. has anyone noticed China is winning FLAWLESSLY. i think its a bit fishy.

  5. It reminded me of LA.

  6. Yeah, I noticed that too. But that's not even as bad as it was before the Olympics. China actually had to "air out" Beijing in preparation for the Olympics, by trying to stop the amounts of cars on the roads.

  7. hahahahaha

But seriously, yes; I have also noticed the smog.

  8. Yes it is so noticeable and far worst than smog in Los Angeles.

  9. It's actually because of the rain, that's why the air seems so humid and dark. Yes, Beijing is a polluted city, just like New York or any major cities in this world. China has a huge industry of factories making things for this world, that's why everything has "Made In China'' on it. Therefore, there are a lot of gas released in the air because of the factories.

  10. It's not just you, the fog was seen especially in the men's road cycling race. It is a serious issue for the citizens of Beijing and is quite unjust. The worst part is, as China becomes increasingly industrial, air pollutants will likely become even worse.

  11. just you. when they show live events here in hk, seems like the weather was quite nice these few days, at least i could see blue skies. even the commentors said that

  12. Yes there is a lot of smog. Believe it or not, much of it is dust from the Gobi Desert and pollution from neighboring areas. Now let's all make a real big political issue out of this and point fingers at the USA and tell us how we suck.

  13. You know what, there is no smog on Mars.  Welcome you go there.  Is it just me or has anybody else watching the ignorants usually ask such a stupid question?

  14. is it just me as how come so many world records have been broken in this single olympics (China has only broken a few btw)?

Man, this smog must be good stuff then!

  15. Read the article in my source...it touches on everything everyone else has commented on so far.

Four of the 5 most air polluted cities in the world are in China.  Some athletes from various countries went over earlier this year to see the air quality situation in Beijing and see how they could handle it and many of those athletes are now saying that the air quality is better there now than back in the spring, as China has shut down factories in a pretty decent radius around Beijing for the past two months.  So, yes, it's bad and it had been even worse.

As far as US cities being polluted, yes we have pollution, but it is nowhere near the level of air pollution in countries like China that have no regulations.  No US city is in the top 10 for poorest air quality internationally.

And to those saying people only started complaining about practices in China now - the west has been complaining about it for years.  The media just didn't pick up on it until the media felt that China was relevant to them.  Blame the media, not the government and its citizens, for you not having a clue about what was going on there until now.

  16. just you

  17. Ahh it's just your specs steaming up or maybe you are standing to close the kettle

  18. I noticed yesterday when I was watching the Aussie sailor team give an interview (right after they won woo) I could barely see the two guys because the smog was soo thick, I thought something was wrong with my TV at first!

  19. i read somewhere that if the smog gets worse the olympics may be cancelled................i just cant remember wear i read it lol

  20. Is it just me noticing that the west suddenly are so critical of the smog and politics rather than their Olympics itself?

Is it just me observing that most of the great American cities are heavily polluted?

Is it just me watching the World is bullying China?

    Get your facts right.

  21. haha.. you could also attribute the misty air to the humidity.. like >90%  i think...

ahh but at least they tried
