Question:

Is it just me or have you noticed this too?

I've noticed when I call out a man on here for being sexist, I get lots of thumbs up. When I call out a woman for being sexist, I get lots of thumbs down. It's pretty rare for me to call anyone out on that, and I use the same criteria for both genders, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Or is it just me?

And yes, I know they don't really mean anything, and when it comes right down to it I don't really care what thumbs up and down I get, but I was just wondering.

  1. Depends on the question, defend men in a feminist question and get thumbs down and/or blocked *cough*bettyjennings*cough*

    or defend feminism in a anti-fem troll question and get a thumbs down

    ALSO

    Certain people seem to have a thumbs down demon following them around on this forum.

  2. I think its just you.

  3. I get thumbs down pretty much always, even when saying common sense things, like "Women in Africa shouldn't be raped."

  4. Haven't paid attention to thumbs up or down for a fair while with myself or anyone else as it's all a load of steaming cow-patties anyway.

    Not to be taken seriously.

  5. Well sexism is defined as biology determining what a woman can do, not so much criticism of the gender.  To illustrate;

    Me saying "american women are sadistic whores" is not, in the strictest sense, sexist.

    However if I said "american women do not know their place, and they should learn to be good housewives because that is all their hormone driven brains allow them to do" THAT, right there, is sexist as h**l.

    See, most women will not say "men have too much testosterone to be effective pilots; that hormone affects the nervous system, leads to a short temper, and such a short temper could result in airplanes crashing."  See, if women criticizing men said THAT, its sexist however what most women who criticize men will say is "men are pigs."  In the strictest sense that is not sexism, its an insult and disrespectful yes, but in the strictest definition of the term "sexism," it isn't.

    If a woman told me for example, all I was good for was loin candy for her to serve a reproductive function, that's sexist.  Sexism is, again, judging the person as inferior because of their gender's biology.  Most women on this forum, like many feminists, likely only resort to insulting but very rarely do even extreme feminists say sexist things about men.  Lesbians on the other hand, are a different story;

    Anyone ever see that Spike Lee movie in which a black dude was put out to stud for L*****n women?  One of the girls said a sexist comment to him saying;

    "look, all you are to us is d**k, balls, and sperm; so do your job as a man!"

    That, right there, that comment, believe it or not would incense some feminists.  Why?  Because its blatantly sexist.  And in the real world, lesbians believe or not are probably the most sexist people.  Hey, I understand where you're comming from; the insults and put downs are not fun, and as someone who generally does not like feminists I hate to tell you this, but a woman categorizing or insulting men is not sexism in the strictest definition of the term.

    Stereotyping and being disrepectful, sure, but try to find a feminist who makes a comment like that L*****n character from that Spike Lee movie or a comment along the lines of "what the h**l is that man doing as a school teacher?  He should be doing construction work; look how big he is!"

    See?  THAT is sexism right there; dictating what a man should do with his life based on his gender's biology, not what he wants to do.  And, again, take it from someone who generally dislikes feminists, I hate to tell you this but, those girls were not being sexist.  In the strictest definition of the term, they weren't.

  6. I haven't noticed this, but this would be bothersome to me as well.  Both sexes can be sexist!

  7. Can't say I have, no. Examples?

  8. well thats a bit sexist... lol

  9. This is gender and women's studies so men should not be the majority on this site.  Women will get more support than the troll men who come on here to harrass women and make fun of them which they probably do in real life.

  10. Average age of answerers = 13.8 y/o

    That's what's up...

  11. Must say I haven't noticed that.

    But I have noticed that when a woman makes a joking remark that's pretty much out of character, some people rush to say how sexist she is.

    However, when a man makes a sexist remark which is pretty much in character, some people rush to say he's joking.

    Go figure, huh.

    PS: I'm sure you won't have to look at this answer long, lots of deletions today. Wonder why? LOL

    Cheers :-)

  12. Have not come around here too often, so I have no clue what the content of these questions hold.  That would seem to be the answer.  Feedback here is not necessaraly possitive or even intelligent, but it can give you some kind of answer...whether because of your wording or mood reflection from the word format...sometimes the flies just love your particular honey.  Sometimes the question is asked in such a way...play with it.

  13. There are more women on this forum, or at least more who have a level 2+ account and care about thumbs up and thumbs down.
