I am 21 going on 22 years old. And i am 33 weeks pregnant. After i found out I was pregnant it was like, everyone I knew from highschool was or already had a baby. 2 of my semi close friends were only a month or 2 apart. They just had there babies and im next in line. And now that im 33 weeks, another person pops up that i know thats pregnant, and then my boyfriends cousin whose 19 becomes pregnant. I swear like everrryone I know in my graduating class of 2005 has had a kid, and some of them are already pregnant with number 2!! Its ridiculous. i feel like one person got pregnant and then another one felt like it was ok since there friend did and now its this crazy baby epidemic. (not really but) .. And almost all of these girls are still living at home with mom and dad and living there and living off of them. My boyfriend already has a 5 year old son, so im glad he has experience. we live in a house, that we rent. We don't live with our parents, and we pay all our own bills. i just really feel like this is a trend. I mean im sure some got pregnant accidentally, but mostly a trend. what do u think?

  1. Well, there's a lot of celebrity teen mums around who actually flaunt it, so maybe pregnancy prevention isn't that high on teenagers' lists anymore. As long as you feel OK about your baby and you've got the means to support them, that's what matters. Jamie-Lynn Spears being one that springs to mind, and some people blame the movie Juno as well.

As for Sara C above me mentioning big sis Britney, at least she was married before getting pregnant, or did I miss something? I know she split up since, but the idea was there...

If it makes you feel any better though, I'm two years older than you and don't have kids yet (not even trying for them yet as I don't feel ready yet).

I do agree that people our age or younger should be careful and make sure to play safe until they can support the child, like you and your boyfriend who already live on your own instead of sponging of parents like some of them. Good on you!

  2. No, it's been around a while...

  3. yes actullayt it is but i think ppl only do it for attion cuz when ur prgo every1 treats u like royality (to a certain extent

  4. okay so your talking like your better than them, but i too noticed me and 3 of my friend all got pregnant within 3 weeks of eachother, and NONE of us were trying. so no shut your trap people arnt just doing it to be cool, but i have a feeling thats why you got pregnant, you thought you would be cool, ya your soooo responsible and grown up, you smoke weed while your pregnant!!!!

way to go about careing about your unborn child

  5. they say that this is another baby boom. I have noticed that a lot where i live, i live near an army base and there is quite a lot of women pregnant. but ya everywhere you turn basically there is a pregnant women. i guess it's just timing some want it others it just happens

  6. it is not a trend . it is a lack of responsibility. and self control

  7. I think that it's become more noticable because of the tabloids. But I don't necessarily think it's a "trend". Everybody goes through these stages as a young adult, it's a part of growing up and being around people your age. Situations are different for everyone and it's not really fair to judge someone because they aren't doing things the same way as you.

Our parents went through the stage where everyone they knew was getting pregnant, as did our grandparents. I think we are just thinking of it as a trend or a fad because it's all over magazine covers.

  8. I don't think people get pregnant to fallow a trend... i think the pregnancy hormones are acting a little weird. I'm sure not EVERYONE from your high school had a baby. Really look at it and I'm sure you will see what i mean.

  9. Well, people like it becuase it makes them feel responsible, but some are just irrisponsible for getting pregnant. I'm sure you have a reason, and your old enough, so that's not that big of a deal but, hmm. Also, teens and other people see celebrities, like Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant and they think "Oh, they got pregnant and they're so cool, so I want a baby!" Or stuff like that. But, yes, I think people just want to be popular or something.

  10. YES! I really do. I mean just look at the rich and famous. Angie and Brad for example!
